It's That Season - Herbal Remedies

Hey, Pumpkins! We have recently entered flu season...the struggles of life. The coughing, exhaustion, sinus, and being dramatic feeling like you may die. You (probably) won't, but here are some remedies to help you through.

Coughing

There are a few remedies that can help with coughing. These can range from tea to cough drops to throat sprays and more.  Let's start with a simple tea:
                                        You will need:
                                        Boiled water
                                        Lemon
                                        Honey
Ginger (this is sometimes left out)
Yep, that's all! As you probably guessed, all you need to do is mix these and enjoy your tea.

A simple, easy-to-use, throat spray.
                                        You will need:
                                        2oz Spray Bottle
                                        1-2tsp raw honey
                                        2tsp dried cloves
                                        1/3 cup filtered water
In hot water in a saucepan add the honey and cloves. After stirring for 20 minutes strain your mixture and funnel into the spray bottle. It's that simple!

Sinus

We hate that feeling of struggling to breathe. Luckily, there are many ways to help sort this out. Of course, there are orthodox medications that should be used when struggles get very bad. However, we can use multiple herbal remedies to avoid getting to that stage.

A simple and well-known one is filling a bowl with boiling water and about 10 drops of eucalyptus oil. Placing your head over the bowl and a towel over your head, inhale the vapor for about 5 minutes to clear your sinus up.  (This can also be done with chamomile)

As with almost anything, tea can also help. A good tea remedy is ginger and garlic. These 2 together contain antioxidants, antibacterials, and a good dose of anti-inflammatories.
                                        You will need:
3 garlic cloves - peeled and halved
1cm ginger root - or 1/2 tsp of powdered ginger
                                        3 cups boiled water
                                        (optional: honey to sweeten)
In a saucepan boil water and add all the other ingredients. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes and then remove from the heat and strain. Once cooled, enjoy your tea!

I hope these help you, Pumpkins! Feel free to suggest any other remedies to help our loving community!

Blessed be
Emerald
