Emotional Alchemy: The Elemental Stages

Hey Pumpkins! We all have moments of fighting our emotions, being lost in them. Instead of fighting them, let's try to embrace them, allow them to empower us. By examining the 'elemental' phases of our emotions, we can learn how to utilize them to our advantage. It is not unlike the original alchemy, turning basic metals/materials into gold. 

The Elemental Phases

We all know the elements: Water, Air, Fire, and Earth. However, did you know that they can be linked to taking back control over your emotions? They can represent the stages of our feelings, the process. Each element has a meaning, an emotional stage, and ways to empower yourself through the relevant emotions. So what do they mean? 

Phase 1: Water (Feel it)

The first phase of Emotional Alchemy is Water, representing feeling the emotions and allowing them in. Our emotions are not just annoying feelings; they are there to help us, guide us. In this stage, we are encouraged to feel our emotions and embrace them without judgment. This can be done by simply allowing yourself to cry, or sitting and embracing those feelings coming out. I find that a good way of doing this is sitting down in a quiet area and blurting your feelings and thoughts out onto a page. Allow everything to surface freely. (Photo by Pixabay, via Pexels)

Our affirmation for this stage is 'I am Free to Feel'

 Phase 2: Air (Name it)

Phase two focuses on understanding and finding clarity. In this stage, we zone in on communication and insight. After feeling the emotions, we are then able to identify and explore them. We can take a step back and take time to understand our feelings and reflect on them. Where did they come from? Was there a trigger? Do we like this feeling? These questions can be answered through observing and finding patterns in our lives and feelings, journaling, and paying attention to the happenings of our lives and what comes with them. Our affirmation for this stage is 'Clarity Clears the Way'

 Phase 3: Fire (Transformation)

Emotions are energy and can be harnessed and channeled. We can take these emotions and turn them into a form of power, use them for empowerment. In stage 3, we take action. This action can be taken in many forms: creativity, personal boundaries, emotional release, such as meditation, dance, sport, etc. Look at what you can do with this emotion. Our affirmation for this stage is 'I am the Fire that Transforms'

 Phase 4: Earth (Grounding)

What is your new understanding? What is your new truth? In this stage, we look into these questions and stabilize our newfound transformation. This phase is slow, steady, and deliberate. It is about looking at your transformation and creating new habits. Here, we stabilize our insights and take time to appreciate our growth. This stage can be completed, embraced, by walking through nature, journaling, or simply sitting with yourself and accepting all that you have completed. (Photo by Mali Maeder, via Pexels)

Why use Emotional Alchemy? 

By connecting our emotions with the elemental stages, we take charge of our emotions, accepting them and gaining control over them. Aligning ourselves with our emotions allows us to bring peace to ourselves and stability to our lives. We are able to turn our chaos into clarity and our pain into purpose. Emotions are not obstacles; they are an opportunity to transform into the best versions of ourselves.
