Cannabis Magick

Hey Pumpkins! Cannabis and magick...can they be mixed? Let's find out.

Many may call cannabis a drug due to the effects that it can have, but really it is simply a herb. Throughout history, it has been used as a medication as well as being used for its relaxing and calming effects. The effect that cannabis has on you is majorly related to the dosage that you take.

Let's talk history

Cannabis can be dated as far back as 2800 BC. According to research, cannabis originated from central Asia and was used for its healing properties. Records of cannabis can also be seen in scripts from many other places, including India, Greece, and Rome. This herb was used for a huge variety of health issues, some of which are inflammation, depression, anxiety, and lack of appetite.

Cannabis Magick

Cannabis has been featured in ancient religions all around the world, including paganism and spirituality. This special herb has been used in various rituals for thousands of years and still is. It can be found in a diverse range of rituals; psychic awareness; meditation; cleansing; and enhancing personal rituals.

Cannabis has been associated with the Norse Goddess, Freya. Because of this, buds were mostly harvested during the holiday of Samhain (now Halloween), a holiday dedicated to Freya. Furthermore, Freya was said to live within all of nature, this then means that by consuming plants we are ingesting her feminine energy.

In other forms, this herb was used in ancient Indian tribes during rituals for divinity. It is said that they also used it to enter a trance state during Shiva, to assist in predicting the future of the tribe. Similarly, it was used for oracle and tarot reading purposes.

As it still is today, cannabis (along with many other herbs) was used as a hallucinogen during various rituals.

How cannabis can be used in magick today

As with all magick, start by cleansing yourself. Not only will this help you focus more but it will also reject any negative energies that may interfere with your magick.

Cannabis, as it always has been in the pagan world, is used to induce visions and clear your mind to hear what the Universe is telling you.

Cannabis, for this purpose, must be consumed in small amounts to alter your mind but not turn it off. Enter a state of mind where you can connect with the energies you aim to focus on. Connect with yourself, your feelings, and what surrounds you. Consume a little (little) more and open your mind and heart to any visions or messages coming your way.

I hope this has been helpful to you, Pumpkins. When performing cannabis magick please please be careful and don't overuse or take advantage. Remember this is still a hallucinogenic herb and taking too much can be dangerous.

Stay safe and, as always, let me know if you complete this practice and/or how it worked for you. Everyone is different.

Blessed be

Emerald
